A beautiful day in the neighborhood...
Mr. Rogers is on. He is touring a doll factory. There are only two dollies. A black dollie and a white dollie. They have the same exact body in different colours and the same exact hair in different colours (black and yellow). Watching him as a child was so different. I enjoyed the puppets and the neat little trolley. I always wanted to go there and be able to just crawl through a tunnel to the "other world." Much like Anne Shirley had her window-pane friend.
I have been hearing reports that Mr. Rogers used to be a Navy Seal (or Marine) sniper with 25 or so confirmed kills. Now when I watch it, I keep expecting him to begin telling kids, "Repeat after me:This is my rifle,
this is my gun.
This is for shooting,
this is for fun!
But I found out (thanks to truthorfiction.com
) that is was all balogna (the cheap kind, not even Oscar Mayer).
My favorite episode has always been the tour of the Crayola factory. I loved seeing all the different colors of wax being mixed and molded. It was cool because they were making up new colors at the time too.
I miss sitting at my old babysitter's house in the summer, waiting for lunch, watching PBS, drawing, playing Barbie, going swimming in her pool. Those were great days. Sometimes I long to be 10 again, just to have one more fight with Dave over who got to use the Casio or who got to choose the TV show that morning (I always chose JEM!).
Summertime has changed...because here I am in front of my computer remembering summer instead of out living it like I used to...why is 25 so different from 10? Current Mood: Where has the time gone..

Great year to be born. :D My birthday is September 23rd.
Anyone else familiar with the mid-20's crisis yet? I don't think our parents went through it...it's something we're making up as we go along. :| Current Mood: curious

Kinda a serious post compared to most but I just wondered how many of you who wer born around the same time as me have found your career that you want in the long term and how many of you are stilll busy working in other jobs and procrastinating/wasting time?
hey i was born in 1980. feb 6. my favorite thing about being born in 1980 is that i can just look at the last number of the year (ex. 2004) and i know that that is the last number of my age (ex. 24). i think this will come in handy when i am very old and forget my age. :)

Hi!! I'm new to this community and LJ and general so I thought I'd do the generic little intro thing. I'm a 24 year old bisexual female democrat from Kentucky. My journal is mostly friends only, but I don't really have a lot of friends on here so maybe y'all (I can say that being from Kentucky!) can help me out. And of course, here's a pic...not a great pic, but a pic just the same. *Smiles*
x-posted, sorry you guys!

Hi, my birthday is September 26....
I graduated from university at the end of last year and now I'm spending 2004 traveling around North America. Next year I'm going to visit the UK and Europe before I go home and try to figure out what to do with my life. What do all of you guys do?

Year of the Monkey
Hey all you other Monkeys! I was born on April 17, 1980 in Cleveland, Ohio. Isn't it nice to have a crazy common community like this? Haha. I think we should post about funny things we remember from our 80s childhood in here.....like:
The bubble gum in toothpaste tubes
MC Hammer Pants
French cuffing our pants
Debbie Gibson (she was my idol)
Ice Skating/Roller Skating parties
After School Specials (on Anorexia, Drug Use, Child Abuse, etc...)
The A Team
V (that alien TV show where they bled green)
Brat Pack movies
"Just say No"
Day Glo colors
Michael Jackson's hair catches fire - Pepsi Commercial
Hands Across America
Baby Jessica (fell down the well)
"Don't worry, be happy" Bobby McFerrin
Fall of the Berlin Wall
Arsenio Hall Show (terrible!)
Tienanmen Square, Beijing, China (thousands killed)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
The Lyle & Eric Menendez Trial
The Pete Rose Saga
Of course the US Olympic team beating the USSR in 1980 (go see Miracle!)
That's all I can think of right now.

I discovered this community and decided to join.
I was born on May 10, 1980 at 4:25 p.m. EST (well technically central because most of Indiana does not change time). I was supposed to arrive on May 21, but my mom said I've always been impatient.
How many others were born in May of 1980? I'm just curious.
